Antri Drousioti My work is all about portraits, people, colors and movements. All this make the combination of my paintings. I do not make my work to pass any message or anything else. I just do it because I truly love it. People is my main subject, their skin color, hair color, their emotion, their move, the pose they take, it is all about people. People from daily life, friends, relatives, girls and boys, but all of them young, all chosen by chance for my work. As I said I do not make my work to explain, to describe, or to state a position, I am painting and I love it. All I make is enjoy, laugh or like. My work is to mix colors and create portraits. My work is the young energy, the pleasure of how young people live and joy their lives and the passion of their age. Some of my paintings depict girls, for the reason of their long hair. Portraits of young girls moving their long hair and make their own expressions for me seems that symbolize the youth and their energy for life. I have painted people posing not ordinary poses but expressing, moving, covering or showing their self or feelings. Except from my aim to make my portraits look exceptional than the ordinary portraits, in my work another aim was to show the depth of the real world, to make this reality look as truer as I can on a flat peace of paper by using my skills and try to achieve to paint well done painted portraits. I paint mostly with visible bold brush strokes but I combine them with conservative and cautious strokes in few parts on my paintings where the most important details are and need to be done. For example, teethes and eyes need more details that the other part of the face. But the most enjoyable part of my paintings is hair, which I paint them with bold strokes. My portraits are part of a conversation between myself as author and subject as papers. Each suggest a possible telling story, but they never enforce it. And that for me is what the portrait is, ambiguous, highly artificial and ever so accurate.
