My Work
I find it important to have a strong emotional connection to the subject I am studying. This is why I paint places and people which are, or once were of significance to me: places from my childhood; friends; family and my surrounding environment. I feel that I work at my best when I have an emotional connection to my subject. I’m also very interested in colour relationships and how I can manipulate the colours in a painting to alter the mood, as well as the technical aspects of composing and layering a painting.
