Statement Painting is a sensation I wouldn't change for the world. At this point in my artistic career, the ambition is to explore the various sensations relating to the human body and reconstructing the way we identify ourselves through the decisions we make. I aim to provoke my audience. I want them to ask questions and debate it. I paint violently so the technique often changes as does the choice of subject. I am channelling aspects of humanity that is rarely documented in painting. The vulnerable and the gradual decay of our existence; exploring the decisions we make as pumping vessels. Peal away the raw flesh, crudely revealing the real destruction of a person. Abortion is typical of this statement. The subject has often caused debate and outrage and it fascinates me. To see the anger and the ugly, the ideology and the rights and wrongs of this situation. The fundamental visual for this was to show not only the decay of this unborn life, but the decay of humanity, the carrier. The soreness and damage of the womb and the infliction it leaves on a person, and society.
