CV and Statement
I was born near Manchester in 1956 and grew up on Anglesey, north Wales where I now live. I studied Fine Art at Falmouth where I received a B.A. (hons.) and Didsbury where I qualified as an art teacher. As a student my work was selected, on two occasions, for the “Stowells Trophy”at the Royal Academy and later my painting “Blue Horse1”was selected for the “Medici Prize” exhibition at the Mall Galleries. I have also held a sponsored, one man show at Smith’s, Covent Garden.
Having been a teacher for a number of years I am now working full time on painting and currently sell my paintings and prints through local galleries, whilst seeking representation. I have work in collections at home and abroad most notably Eagle Star insurance.
In addition to the images I would add, by way of a brief explanation, these words:
My approach to the technique of making the pieces allows me to “perform” my craft, ideally resulting in an energised yet controlled illusion. The appeal of the resultant image lies in its arresting and out-of-context scale.
