Statement

Luke’s work embraces fine art photography, painting and video production taking the form of private commissions and limited edition collections.

This is a look at a select few pictures from 3 bodies of work. The Moonshine Photographs, exhibited in London, Leicester and Bristol as well as featuring in the documentary series, Young Artist Series by We The Conspirators. Silver, an ongoing collection of eclectic black & white, large-format photographs and Street, a selection of 35mm, un-staged street photographs shot in Leicester, Pennsylvania, New York and Venice.

Currently in the Lab, new work has taken the form of a series of ongoing medium-format portraiture entitled Squares, shot in magazine type fortnightly installments.

All of the photographs in these collections as a matter of principle remain unaltered. The scene as you see it is exactly as it was in front of the camera at the moment it was taken. There has been no major post production adjustment. All these images and more can be viewed on the website below.

Title: Country Lane

Medium: Giclée print from 5x4 negative

Dimensions: 79 x 92cm framed

Year: 2009

Price: £450

Description: A graveyard for stars and breakneck speedsters.
This photograph is a combination of a sliding doors moment if the life of James Dean, the idea of airing your dirty laundry in public and a re-interpretation of an 18th Century Eugène Delacroix painting, but you need not dwell on this too hard.
A man looks despondently back at the tarmac-smacked contents of his suitcases on the road.

Dimensions: 79 x 92cm framed

Year: 2009

Price: £450

Description: A modern take, recreation and sentimental look at Edward Hopper's 1927 painting, Automat. Here her possibly optimistic tea leaves are replaced with product placement, a dark and bubbling drink. An unconsidered moment, saturated colours and the solitude of the single customer give up no answers.
