Artist Statement

My paintings are influenced by memories. I try to express the emotions evoked by different life experiences and to explore notions such as joy, love, suffering and fear: emotions difficult to name, just as it is difficult to describe colour.

I am inspired by artists whose work cannot be reasonably analyzed; work which is intuitive, ambiguous, mysterious.

Events, places, people, family histories, literature and music are my starting points for imaginative compositions. Painted spontaneously, my work is not pre-determined, its outcome is unknown. Often made of several layers, they seem to be never fully finished.

I like my paintings to be dynamic, always moving; made of harmonic, contrasting and sometimes clashing colours.
