Mike D'Aguas Payne
My name is Michael Payne and I’m an up and coming digital artist. My style is diverse, mixing cartoon with eye-catching shapes and colour. I have freelanced for local companies designing menus to cartoon characters, and sell art both on-line and in my town gallery. I’m mainly self taught and love what I do. And I hope you enjoy my work as much as I’ve enjoyed making it…Thanks
The print is on a 100% polyester textile canvas, with a matt non-reflective finish. Using Ultrachrome K3 Ink, colour will last up to 75 years. The canvas is 'gallery wrapped' - where the print wraps around the frame - on an 18mm quality wooden frame. The frame is reinforced with wedges for re-tensioning of the canvas, for a professional finish.
Give it soul:
A New Orleans saxophone player doing what he does best...giving it soul. Inspired by a picture of a saxophonist playing in the subway, I wanted to give this picture an urban graffiti look. The saxophonist was given a simplistic black and white 'street art' look, whilst colourful shapes were added for a sharp contrast. Personally, I think the green and grey colour combination worked a treat.
Sword amongst leaves:
Inspired from the Kill Bill cover, I loved the idea of an elegant female holding such a lethal weapon, in such a calm manor…setting a some what contradictive theme. I wanted my character to be mysterious, almost spirit like, to make the viewer use their imagination. And carrying on with the contradictive theme, I made her colourful and vibrant against a pitch-black background. Giving it almost a ‘good vs. evil’ feel.
The king fisher:
I wanted to create a floral pattern, combining natural flowers with unnatural patters and shapes. Giving quite a surreal theme. Having recently been to the Bath and Somerset show, I found the use of different flowers on the same piece of art inspiring. I didn’t want to complicate the picture with too many colours, so I kept it simple. And the king fisher was added to give the picture life. A majestic bird in it’s wild, beautiful kingdom.
